How do I make a reservation?
You can book online. Choose the dates of your stay, enter your details, and select your payment option (ie. direct credit card payment, bank transfer or provide us with your credit card details and we will do the transaction for you).
You may also call us on +601 2428 5191 or +604 2610 190 from 10am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, or email us with any reservation queries.
Is there any risk involved in giving my credit card number on your website?

What methods of payment do you accept?
We accept credit card or bank transfers.
What is your cancellation policy?
We operate a free cancellation policy if booking is cancelled 7 days before arrival except for the periods from 24 December – 01 January when 14 days is required. For group reservations of more than 3 barns, 14 days is required. If you change or cancel your reservation less than 7 or 14 days prior to arrival, 1 night charge will incur. We will not be able to refund any payment for no-shows.

Is transportation available to and from airport / George Town?
We can arrange for airport, Georgetown or Batu Ferringhi transfers but this needs to be booked in advance. Please provide us with your pick up details if you require this service.
I want to come and view the property, do I need to make an appointment?
Yes, you will need to make an appointment by filling out a form to view the property. Out of respect for the privacy of our guests, drop-in inquiries cannot be accepted and site visits are available by appointment only. Please email our reservation team at firstname.lastname@example.org for further details.
What types of barns are available and what are the differences between the barns?
The barns at Malihom are of different sizes and can accommodate up to 3 adults per barn. Please visit our Barns section for details on individual properties. Kindly note that barn rates are according to room type and occupancy rate. Please make sure that you key-in the correct number of occupants during booking. Extra charge for the third person in a barn that was not mentioned during initial payment is RM150 per person per night, chargeable upon check-in (subjected to the maximum occupancy of each barn).
What time is check-in/ check-out?
Check-in time is 2pm, and check-out is 12 noon.
Is early check-in available?
It is possible to arrange for an early check-in, subject to barn availability.
Is late check-out available?
Late check-outs are charged at RM100 per hour. Your check-out time can be extended to 2pm without charge when requested in advance and when it will not inconvenience the next arriving guest.
Are the barns big enough to accommodate more guests than what is stated on your reservation portal?
Unfortunately not. The barns can only accommodate as per the number of guest on the reservation portal.
What can I do up there?
Most guests choose Malihom to unwind and relax. However, if you are feeling a little bit energetic, we have a swimming pool and there are also walking trails on our 40-acre estate.
Can I make a tour arrangement to George Town?
Yes. Please inform us in advance if you wish to book a George Town tour. Malihom provides guests with free admission to the House of Yeap Chor Ee, a social history gallery located in the UNESCO Heritage enclave of Penang.
What currency do you accept?
We only accept Malaysian Ringgit.
Is there internet connection?
We have WiFi available in the common area, however due to our remote location, the service is intermittent.
What about communication?
Certain mobile phone service providers do not have good coverage in Balik Pulau, hence mobile users may occasionally experience connection problems.
What's the temperature like?
Malihom is located 1,500 feet above sea level. The temperature is about 2-3 degrees cooler than downtown. On certain nights, especially after a rainfall, light sweaters may be required.
What is the local custom for tipping?
Tipping is greatly appreciated and we suggest you do so at the end of your stay.
Is the tap water safe to drink?
We encourage guests to drink bottled water, although the tap water at Malihom comes from our own natural spring, filtered before it reaches our water tank and is safe.
Are we allowed to have visitors during our stay?
Yes, day guests are allowed but limited to a maximum total of 5 at any given time. Please inform us beforehand.
Are you wheelchair accessible?
No, Malihom is not wheelchair accessible.
What about pets?
Pets are not allowed unless consent is obtained beforehand. In any case, we don’t generally encourage guests to bring pets to the estate because of neighbouring dogs.
Insects and other animals
We work routinely to control the insect population. We do, however, strongly advise guesst to switch off all lights and shut the doors when they leave their barn in the evenings. Nocturnal insects and mosquitoes are attracted to light.
The electrical voltage in Penang is 240 volts alternating at 50 cycles per second. Guests from countries with different electrical standards will need a voltage converter. Outlets are two parallel flat pins with ground pin. If your appliance plug has a different shape, you will need a plug adapter.
What meals are provided?
Our restaurant meals vary between Western and Asian cuisine and are generally hearty proportions. We rarely have anyone complaining! However, if you need extra orders, we have a menu available and any additional charges will be added to your bill upon check-out.
Can I make a specific meal request?
Specific meal requests, such as vegetarian meals, can be accommodated within reason.
Is the food at Malihom halal?
We serve only pork-free dishes.
What time are meals served?
Breakfast is served 7.30am-10.00am. Lunch is served from 12pm-2.30pm. Dinner is served from 7.00pm-10.00pm.
Can we use Malihom grounds as a location photography?
